Summer On My Mind

As I write this, my outdoor thermometer hovers way below freezing. Despite this chilling fact, I really do like winter. It’s a beautiful season, just a little too gray and white for a painter who loves color. Luckily I planned ahead and am still able to enjoy the season that I think is the most fun to paint! Here are two of my newest works drying in the studio and waiting to be framed. “Limitless” (top) and “Surface”

I had the honor of being one of Ty Stuyvesant’s subjects for a documentary project about artists. Ty did an amazing job with my short clip, take a look!

AttitudeThe painting “Attitude” came about kind of unexpectedly. As I held this beautifully reflective tube of luscious red lipstick, I started thinking about the power this color holds. The bad girl imagery goes perfectly with this bold, seductive, and jealousy invoking red. It is not the color to stain your lips if you’re feeling shy. It’s the color to choose if you want to feel irresistible and invincible. The perfect color for a girl with attitude.

Most artists are familiar with solitude.  We spend hour after hour at our easels alone.  I think that is why when we get to share our work we celebrate the opportunity.  An appreciative audience is a great gift to any artist.  I cannot thank my friends, family, and all those who support my artistic efforts enough.  You all keep me going through times of self-doubt and I will never forget the kindness and generosity so many have shown me!  My paintings are filled with love and gratitude for all of you and I wish for them to bring you happiness!
